It displays the load paper into main tray message even though there is plenty of paper. It seems like it could be a paper sensor issue. The printer motor sounds like it is running. However the pickup rollers are not turning. If so, it's possible that the rollers are dirty, and it just can't generate enough friction to grab and handle the paper. Also, have you tried any other paper? I already cleaned the rollers as described in the HP help video with clean water. The rollers look clean and spin when trying to grab paper. Current state is that the rollers turn while having contact to the paper but they can't pick up a new sheet. If the paper is pushed manually forward into the printer a sheet is picked up and printing works perfectly. I haven't tried other paper types but I'm still using the same paper type as when the printer worked. Is it possible that the rollers are not pressed strong enough to the stack of paper. Is there a way to check this or anything else I can do? Thanks Any suggestion? Use a mirror to look up inside the paper box at the source gear while trying to print and you will see the rod the gear is on is turning but the drive gear is not. Then I very carefully applied JB weld to the splines on the rod. (Note: do not get JB weld on any other place than the splines on the rod). Then I moved the gear back to the right in position being sure the drive gear and the feed gear were lined up. Let it dry 24 hours before using. Note: this all has to be done with a mirror, even if you turn the printer upside down you cannot see the drive gear and rod because you cannot remove the paper holding box bottom. Good luck! We loaded the printer widget on our Macs, so we are always aware of our ink levels. It is super detailed. We fax quite a bit, so we needed this feature. If you don't fax, you might want to save some money and get one of the other models. The multi ink design is great, I hated have to buy all new all-in-one color cartridges in my old printer because I used up one of the colors in the cartridge. The color is as good as you can expect for a home printer. Just make sure and use HP paper. The scanner bed has been great. I have been scanning old pics into my iPhoto. No problems. Also, having the built-in card reader supporting almost all formats has saved me a few times. You never know when someone comes over, takes some pics and asks you if you want copies. I can copy from any card directly into iPhoto. This allowed me to clean up my desk and get rid of my portable card reader. Enjoy, we have! This printer is junk. Yes, it was used they claim, but they also made high claims as to the condition of the printer. I hate it when people try to dispose of their garbage on Amazon and try to make a buck off stuff that should be in the trash. This is NOT E-bay. I expect better from Amazon and vendors here. This printer box looked like it has been water damaged at some point in the past. The booklet that came with it looks the same. My carpet was damaged by the printer when we removed it from the box and ink spilled all over my beautiful carpet. I should sue for damages because of this. And very well might. Murray 1.0 out of 5 stars You certainly cannot take them for granted.EVER. The C7280 does a great job when it works. But like all HP printers, you are likely to run into all kinds of problems getting it installed completely. Especially if you switch to newer operating systems. HP doesn't like to stay up to date. This printer eats up ink like it's starving to death. It makes all kinds of clunky noises and hisses for up to 30 seconds at times before printing a page. Another sign of poor design. And let us not forget the dreadful ink expiration messages. After jumping through HP hoops with the C7280, I know longer buy their products and frankly I am surprised they stay in business at all.

I spent a ton of time searching the Internet for tips on fixing the problem. None seemed to work. I bought all new HP brand cartridges which I now plan to trash. This C7280 replaced a C7180 which died of a similar problem. These things seem designed to fail just after the warranty and, of course, are not reparable. Both went for recycling. I also have a HP 940CVR which continues to work after 3 years but the ink cartridges do not last long under light use, although I exercise the printer weekly. I also had another HP printer a long time ago which failed after a couple of years of light use. I have had it with HP. I have now ordered a Epson after a lot of research and hope to have better experience.Cannot be worse than HP. I also teach seniors beginning Windows and Mac OS classes. Apparently alot has changed at HP since then and I will NEVER buy HP again. I have had to re-install the dirvers several times and currently it is only printing about two thirds of the page for some unexplanined reason. I have also had many problems attempting to get this machine to print on both sides of the page. Endless problems in this area. Also, the scanner thinks that there is something in the auto feed feature so it won't scan. I put something I want scanned on the scanner bed and attemt to scan and get an error message tellin me to take out the paper in the auto feed and try again. An endless loop with no solution so I currently cannot scan. If I could give this printer zero stars, I would. It is inexpensive, but in this case you are getting what you pay for.

Interstate 15 1.0 out of 5 stars But the first thing I found out is that it would not print on 5x8 cardstock -- the cards just kept jamming, even though HP's tech support people told me that it should work. It began printing on regular paper just fine, but then I noticed that the printing on the page was skewered -- that is, the left margin was wider at the bottom than at the top. The HP support people told me to be sure the margins were set correctly, which I did, but that was not the problem. They then told me that I needed to load an alternative driver, which I did but the driver did not work. After that, for some reason the regular letter-size paper also began to jam. So, with skewered printing, jamming paper, inability to print on cardstock, and an alternative driver that did not work, I finally decided to take the printer back where I got it. Thank goodness Best Buy has a good return policy. On the plus side, I should say that I loved the scanning software, even though it took a long time to load each time I tried to use it. And when I tried to print a 4x6 picture, it worked beautifully. But for the kind of thing I do most, I just could not keep this printer.Please try again later. Please try again later. It can only be rebooted by disconnecting the power. 2- The machine does not pickup FAX's about one time in 3 3- The machine's actual FAX transmit rate wavers between 33k and (usually) 9.6k or slower. 4- The ink usage is surprisingly high. 5- I have several users in the house and the wireless is VERY poor where the machine will just not print, even to machines that are connected wirelessly. I have aborted transmissions about 50 of the time, even from computers located in the same room. 6- Software interface- VERY poor and not up to HP's usual superb standards. 7- The first page takes up to 1 minute to print (assuming the printer has been idle overnight). Laukaitis 1.0 out of 5 stars This printer - from day 1 - will constantly demand new cartidges. It is unbelieveable how quickly it uses up print cartridges. I make sure to print in grayscale when possible, but it seems it always warning me a print cartridge is soon to be empty. This printer is also incredibly loud. Just to print one page of a simple black and white document, there is an entire array of loud and busy machinations it must go thru. You expect a copy of War and Peace to be printed based on all the drama it takes to do anything. Loading photo paper is difficult and not intuitive, especially for something that seems to market itself to more practical, home-based novice users. This printer constantly warns of improper shut downs and various dramas it seems to encounter. You would think you could spend this much money, buy a simple printer that you can simply turn on and expect to work without constant attention. I will not buy an HP product again. Unless of course, I have a huge stack of papers at risk of flying away, then this clunky, heavy, overpriced piece of crap will probably work well, but I'm not sure.Please try again later. It just remains in limbo, whereby I have to turn the computer off. Then to use it again, I have to insert the original CD in the drive and reinstall the software. As my title suggests, this new technology where you only have to purchase the ink cartridges you need is for the birds. Anyway, I really don't like this printer. Actually, that's not bad for longevity, however, I have to say that it is not only the worst printer, but the worst piece of equipment I've ever owned. I have wasted more time and frustration on this machine than I care to remember. It is always going on the fritz or the software needs to be re-installed. The scanner will take itself offline. But now I can't use my nearly full cartridge after only a month, because printer is suddenly convinced it is not a 'real' HP cartridge. Please try again later. fredct 4.0 out of 5 stars The wireless convenience is great and setup was quite straightforward - no different than adding any other device to your wireless network. If you're comfortable with that, this should be no problem. If you're not, the instructions are still pretty good. Print quality is nice, and the ability to print two-sided is really nice to conserve on paper without having to do it manually. We haven't done much photo printing, but, what we have done, on the glossy photo paper has been very good. I'm no photophile, but from a layman's perspective, it looks as good to me as real photos. I've seen a lot of comments on here about the drivers. I've seen what you're talking about because I've seen it on previous HP printers. They always want to be running things in the background and start things up on reboot, etc. Perhaps those reviews were using older software versions or something, but these HP drivers are much less obnoxious than those I've seen in the past. Btw, I have a Mac, and the printer has had no issues with working just fine from a Mac - although I haven't really done any scanning so I can't comment on that. Finally, the fax capabilities and document feeders are a real nice convenience for a home. A couple small downsides: - the ink is more expensive per volume than most other printers. If you do a lot of printing - especially photos this may be worth considering. But in a couple months we've yet to dent any of the reported ink volume, so for us its not a bit deal. - It does take probably 10-20 seconds to boot up and makes some noise while doing so. It also takes 5-10 seconds to shut down. So its a bit more computer like than your standard printer. It could annoy some people. - I've measured and the power brick uses about 4 watts of power even when the printer is turned off.Please try again later. Please try again later.
