If the printer sits without being used ink will start to dry in the printhead. A cleaning cycle tends to take care of this problem. If my Canon printhead dries I can easly take the printhead out and run hot water over it, the Epson printhead can not be removed. The printer held up to a slightly higher cycle rate than I had originally purchased it for. It printed everything from photos, to card stock, to envelopes extremely well.
