Andy had worked under the ingenious audio wizard Henry Kloss, of the legendary Advent loudspeaker company. Before that pairing, Henry Kloss also had a major role in starting up two other well-regarded and respected audio companies, AR (Acoustic Research) and KLH. Boston Acoustics A150s and A200s were both offered in real wood veneer- oak and walnut. Later, vinyl was offered. The tweeter and midrange are positioned at ear level- a proper height to achieve realistic musical imaging, and are flush mounted on a wide smooth fascia to control early driver reflections for reduced driver refraction.A mark of detail and quality, the inner grill baffle is beveled to minimize early reflections that can blur the stereo image. The smooth fascia of the speaker along with the countersunk and flush drivers retained a crisp focused image- due to reduced infractions. The wide-shouldered, narrow design was one of many possible design approaches to minimize diffraction of the drivers. The furniture grade wood veneer is of high quality- some Tung oil or quality wood wax will bring out the full, beautiful lustre of these in all but the most abused models. The A150 was an incredibly successful model, with many units sold. A decent price with exceptional all-around performance. The A200 was the first no-holds-barred Boston Acoustics offered. The A100 was the first no-compromise speaker according to the company literature, the A150 the first no-compromise 3 way, but the A200 was the first all-out model. Later, a dual woofer, extremely rare A400 was introduced. At 4 ohm loads, and a larger price tag, fewer were sold, as the A200 was so close in performance. Both are 8 ohms impedance, and decent efficiency at a sensitivity of 90 db at 1 meter. Both request a diet of 15wpc minimal, 75wpc recommended (150wpc peak). Thanks for posting it. http://artospace.com/pics/bower-sfd35c-user-manual.xml

If I'm reading it right, the A200s were TOTL prior to the release of the A400. They sure sound great. They may even edge out my JBL Horizons. The wire terminals have strange markings. One post is marked 0 and the other is marked 8. I'm assuming the 8 is the positive connection but would like confirmation. - PeteThanks for posting it. From what I've pulled from the literature, the A200s were the top of the line before the A400 was released. I own both currently. One post is marked 0 and the other is marked 8. I've been keeping my eyes open for a local pair, and so far no luck. I too love this series from BA. At Advent, Kotsatos did more basic design work.He was the one responsible for the Advent 4. IIRC, the last speaker that he did before leaving Advent and forming Boston with Reed. AFAIK, the similarity between the Advent 4 and the Boston A60 is NO COINCIDENCE. Regards, Gordon.Click to expand. http://dansecyr.com/pdf/bower-sfd328-user-manual.xml
I'll hopefully dig my pair out this weekend, and will confirm. The differences I can tell you of the A200 and A150 is the A200 is taller, wider yet shallower. Both are rated at the same rsange, but the A200 sounds bigger. They are not very common. - PeteThat's only a WAG, tho. Regards, Gordon. An ecxceedingly versatile speaker for indoor or outdoor use. These tough and durable outdoor speakers feature rustproof hardware and connectors, powder-coated aluminum grilles, UV-resistant polypropylene cabinets, and are designed to withstand the harshest weather and temperature extremes. They're great speakers, in great condition, sound incredible. Anyone familiar with these. What should I sell them for, and where. I'm in Boulder, CO and do not want to have to ship them anywhere - they are very big and heavy. Thank you kindly in advance, Jessy I have a pair of BA A150's.also in great condition that I would like to sell. I would be grateful for any information you may receive. Valerie I'm very familiar with the BA's. I sold the line and own a pair of original 200's. They are, however, a speaker that only another original Boston fan would care to own at this point in time. They were unique for their day, more than twenty five years ago, and they are not designed with current ideas for speaker shape and size. This makes the BA's largely unsuitable for many applications such as home theater and quality-wise they really aren't up to what is available for a few hundred dollars compared to contemporary designs for pure audio use. Their advantage is in the depth and quality of bass response but they can be bettered by most decent speakers today from that range upward. They are a speaker that was very nice for the dollar spent twenty five years ago but they are not classic designs unless you are an Andy Petite freak (the original designer for BA and several other Boston area companies). http://www.drupalitalia.org/node/72597
The foam woofer surrounds on vintage East Coast speakers have a tendency to rot and will be a concern for anyone who knows the speaker. Due to their size and weight, I think the best thing would be to list the speakers on a site such as Audiogon, sell only for local pickup and hope for the best. They would make nice starter speakers for someone who doesn't require extremely high volume levels. Not much else. You can sell them to a site such as Audio Classics, but the money you will get and the cost of shipping will probably make it less desirable to do so.Unfortunately, no one considers at the time of purchase what they will do with the speakers when they want to move on. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed. It was founded in 1979 by Advent veterans Andy Pettit and Frank Reed. His grandfather immigrated here and worked as a waiter at a French restaurant. Because he was small of stature, the rest of the staff named him Le Petit, French for small. When it came time to cave-in to the social pressure and Americanize, he changed his name from Kostatsos, to Pettit. After he founded Boston Acoustics and was very successful with it Andy Pettit changed his name back to Kostatsos. It was a floor standing, very wide speaker, designed that way to minimize diffraction. It had a very narrow depth. It was followed by the A150 floor standing speaker and A-70. Boston Acoustics marketed these speakers to audio specialty retailers and became very respected for producing high quality sound for very reasonable prices. https://eytam.com/images/boston-acoustics---tvee-10-soundbar-manual.pdf
The chain called Tweeter, in the Boston area was one of their first and largest stores to sell them. They also produced OEM equipment which is factory-fitted to a variety of cars including Chrysler 300, Chrysler 200, Chrysler PT Cruiser, Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Avenger, Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Magnum, Dodge Caliber, Jeep Commander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass vehicles. They also supplied the premium 9-speaker system in the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.Currently they maintain the brand name, but no engineering is budgeted and there is no future production planned for Boston Acoustics. Their last series included the A25 bookshelf speakers and A360 towers. As of July 2019, those are still proceeding. By using this site, you agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Deep in the Woods 5.0 out of 5 stars Was hoping there was a easy fix otherwise I too would have handed them off. As with all surface repair projects, much of the work is in preparation of the area. The actual gluing is simple, the prep work takes a little time and patience to make sure your job lasts over the years to come. Once done, these speakers sound as good as new. I have cranked them up and experience zero fuzz sounds so I'm satisfied. Might be able to create somewhat the same fix using a high quality foam if you have some spare sitting around. The shape of these foam edges does help create a spring like buffer to allow the woofers to move about their business. The hardest part was the preparation which involved removing the old glue and foam with a utility knife, q-tips and isopropyl alcohol. Gluing was the easiest part and I did it in two steps; first gluing the foam to the speaker cone and after letting it dry for an hour gluing the other edge of the foam to the speaker frame. I recommend this youtube video showing the process: I think you have to get a different kit (FSK-1028) instead of this one (FSK-10A). Not sure why HD10 is in the title.I'd say 25 dollars for two good sounding speakers is a good deal. Very easy repair. Be careful with the glue, it comes out very fast.I thought that I would have to buy a new sound system or replace the speaker units until I came across this repair kit. The shipping was fast. Be careful to use the cement sparingly when making the repair. The instructions are clear and everything was in the box. My speakers are as good as new and it took only about an hour. This is the second set of speakers I've reconditioned and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.I am a perfectionist and took hours to do it properly. Turned out great for me. Subwoofer sounds better than before it ripped. Please upgrade your browser to improve your experience. Fits a speaker cone of 4 inches. Carefully insert a sharp utility knife between the gasket and the old surround. Slowly work your way around the gasket. Prying it off until the original glue seam is broken. Scrape away any remaining foam from back of gasket. You don’t necessarily have to remove all of the glue residue, but you must remove all of the foam residue. Warning! Do not apply foam remover to the cone.Allow to soak for 3-4 min. Use your fingers to rub off the remaining foam particles from the cone's edge. Remove as much foam as you can, but leaving a thin layer is acceptable. If you are precise, draw a line before gluing. If the new edge fits cone, but the outer lip is too large for the frame, trim the outer diameter of the foam edge as needed. Some wrinkling of the new foam is normal and will subside as the adhesive cures. Install the new foam edge onto the cone. You can move the foam and make adjustments as needed at this time. Be sure to center the foam on the cone. In most cases it is easier to install the new foam to the TOP of the cone even if the original foam was installed behind the cone. Allow to dry for 20 min. Press lightly on top of the foam to distribute the adhesive. Install the new foam edge onto the frame. You can move the foam and make adjustments as needed at this time. Be sure to center the foam on the cone and frame. Place the speaker gasket side down and allow to dry for 20 min. We are at service for 5 years as online shop and thousands of people successfuly repaired their speakers themselves. You can cut the edges of the surround with a scissors and overlap the foam to make it smaller as needed to fit speaker basket. Rubber surround is produced from plastic (GMO). It is heavier comparison to polyether and the motion of the rubber surround in the magnet is limited. Hence the sound quailty differs. Most of the speaker producing company uses foam surround. No, if you mind the look of it being different to the other, you can change the other one too. The best way to get a Venn Diagram on Google Docs is probably the single most important task you could ever do in your business. This is because in the event that you don't know how to use Google Docs, you'll never have the ability to come up with a large scale information technology system that may support your present business. You will also have problems in attempting to grow your business to a very large scale. The two Chief reasons why are. You can not manage your information effectively This usually means that your systems are broken and they are not current. You won't have the ability to manage your data appropriately if your systems are not up to date. The question is how to get a Venn Diagram on Google Docs. And the response isI will show you how in this report. The first step in this method is to think about a two-way relationship between individuals. There are 3 common ways to set up a relationship between people: order stream, productivity, and funding. In this case, we can work with all the productivity and order flow works to make a Venn diagram. www.cn-zsm.com/d/files/bosch-shu5315uc-user-manual.pdf
Once we have the simple relationship between growth and order flow, we could then add the financing portion into our diagram. To be able to have this correctly, you have to be certain that you know exactly what it is that the job is attempting to do. A project may be attempting to improve 1 area of the network, or it might be trying to enhance all elements of it. If you can not define what the project is trying to do in such conditions, you will not have the ability to build a diagram around this idea. When you have drawn the two diagrams of this undertaking, you'll need to find out if they could fit together. There Are Several Different approaches to do this, however I shall suggest that you try something like that. You will want to begin with pulling in each the data that is connected to the job which you are taking a look at. Then, you will want to check at the way both charts compare. I would also recommend having a third chart that shows the effectiveness of this project in the metrics that you've already established. So many people waste time and money by attempting to install switches in their own without learning how to correctly wire a method so that it will function properly and reliably. There are a number of things you can learn about once you learn how to install buttons onto a wiring diagram. The very first thing that you need to understand is exactly what buttons are, and what makes them different from other switches. At the most elementary level, switches are basically electronic buttons which have two or more wires attached to them that will be employed to trigger the change in question. The kind of change you choose will depend on the sort of automation system you have installed. You'll also need to understand how to install switches onto a wiring diagram that includes single-wire switches. You'll realize that single-wire switches, orsemi-isolated switches, are the simplest and least expensive type of change which you could install in your home. You'll also discover that these buttons don't connect two devices together and can't be controlled separately, but you can use them in combination with multi-wire switches. On the flip side, you will find that there are numerous ways to link multi-wire switches, such as some that use cables which interlock with one another. You will also discover that these types of switches use different mixtures of at least two wires. They may be connected in a variety of ways that are calledmultiplexing. In addition to knowing how to wire a home automation system properly, you will also wish to learn different types of wiring necessary for every one of these switches. You'll also need to understand how to correctly prepare and install each type of switch to make sure it will do the job properly and correctly. If you do not understand how to do so, you will have an extremely difficult time finishing the task of replacing or installing a switch or other device. Obviously, learning how to set up three way switches on a wiring diagram will be the most important lesson you need to learn when you choose to go the route of house automation. When you install an automation system, you are going to wish to be certain that you understand how to wire and install switches onto a wiring diagram, and you may wish to make certain that all the switches you buy will work together properly and will not interfere with each other in any way. Learning how to wire three way switches onto a wiring diagram is a very important skill that each home automation expert should have. This is only because this skill may greatly improve the quality of your entire home automation and setup skill set. Therefore, you will want to learn how to install three way switches onto a wiring diagram so you can properly control all of the house automation devices that you are considering purchasing. Learning how to cable three way switches on a wiring diagram will allow you to set up all the various devices which you would like to use in your home and to be certain that they work together correctly.
