If your dishwasher model was released annually to the same hype as most mobile phones are every year, the release date would be ingrained in your memory even if you're not a fan of that particular model and never planned to get one. It is also handy to know the year for insurance purposes. This information will come in handy if you need to buy any spare parts or, again, if your dishwasher develops a fault and needs to be serviced. Inside the door or on the side panel of your dishwasher, you will find strings of numbers and letters hopefully still legible after years of use. One of these numbers is beginning with the letters FD. http://jbcaltek.com/images/file/bosch-maxx-wtl-6101-manual.xml

This is the serial number you're looking for. Ignore all these number but the first four. The last two digits represent the month. The production month is February. In that case, ignore the first digit, giving you the year 02 (2002) and the month 05 (May). She writes about education, parenting and linguistic technology. Find her at www.tanyamoziasslavin.com. Most DW are pretty close when it comes to performance, energy usage, etc. Good luck on your decision! I have had mine for 6 years with not a problem (knock on wood). It is extremely quiet, has a stainless steel interior, and heats its own water. KitchenAid has had reliability issues and is now owned by Whirlpool, whose customer service has gone waaaay down. Even the big box stores sell panel ready dishwashers (they just don’t have them on the display floor). Bosch, Asko, Kitchenaide..See More kitchen appliances Q Comments (13) We have 5- 10 year old Kitchen Aid appliances. We typically never buy the extended warranties. We did for the refrigerator and thank goodness- it did need a major repair before the 5 year mark, but was covered and the refrigerator gasket started to tear and that was covered also. The dishwasher has been fine except -- my husband replaced a part that we were able to purchase on Amazon. The grinder was broken because a pop tab snuck down there. The beverage fridge has an issue with the light switch. We did not get extended warranty on that, so it's not fixed and not a big deal. The Stove had to have the circuit board replaced, but that was covered under extended warranty. The microwave time and timer lights no longer light up, we just live with it. Otherwise LOVE them. Considering that new appliances aren't supposed to last 10 years any more (?!) I guess we are ok. http://d2005.ru/userfiles/bosch-maxx-wtl-6101-manual.xml

The cabinets behind the peninsula on the hall wall are the only glass cabinets in the room, with my wine glasses, etc. (inspiration photo below).Love your point about folks helping to set the DR table with dishes kept near the sink, and away from the cooking zone. I'll have to think on that one. Thank you!.See More Kitchen Remodel - Appliances???? Q Comments (3) I just replaced my Bosch DW bought in 2004 with a new Bosch when I remodeled. The old one was still working but since I was remodeling, I thought I might as well do it now rather than a year or two from now. I don't think you can go wrong with any Bosch DW - the difference would really be in terms of functions and style. The Miele is slightly more expensive but also is supposed to be very reliable. I personally didn't worry about matching my appliances. My refrigerator is KA. My wall oven happens to be Bosch because I wanted a side opening model but directly below it is a Sharp microwave draw. My induction cooktop is Bosch but it's black so there really is nothing that makes it look like anything else. Buy whichever specific appliance you want in each category and don't worry whether they are the same brand..See More chefnewbie 11 years ago I have a Kitchen Aid Architect that is fabulous at getting the dishes clean. I had an older Bosch at my old house. It did not clean as well as my new KA does, but that could just be the age factor. The bosch I had left a lot of dishes still wet, but my KA gets everything dry. Also, I would get a lot of residue in the bottom of glasses and cups with the Bosch - I get none with the KA. Again, the newer Bosch DWs may not have any of these problems. I don't know. I do know that I really love my KA. http://www.drupalitalia.org/node/68916

I also have an Icon DW in my kitchen (yes two DWs) and it works beautifully, too. And having hopped from house to house to house for a while, I've seen numerous, including a KA. I've never seen dishes come out so perfectly pristinely clean and gleaming as I've seen them come out of mine. Obviously, not all the dishwashers were of the same vintage but I am still simply delighted with my 500-series Bosch. Looks good, cleans brilliantly, dries really well (upturned cup bottoms notwithstanding). I'm happy with it. I have the Integra 500 SHX55Mo6 and love it. It does a fantastic job of cleaning just about anything you can put in there. It'll be more water and energy efficient as well. I don't know if we just got a lemon. It is noisy, it has concealed controls where the buttons wore out and stopped functioning and we had the panel replaced, then we had the control panel fixed again and the detergent dispenser replaced. One of the racks is broken. It's a mess, and it's only about 5 years old. The pump seems to be going and instead of a repair, I'm going to get a new DW, likely a Bosch or Miele. Because the interior is stainless steel, the steam condenses on the stainless steel, instead of the dishes, and then drains away. Much more fuel and water efficient. It's not that it 'lacks' the function - it doesn't need it, because it's designed not to need it. Since I don't use the heated dry, I'd agree that having that option isn't particularly important but then there's nothing wrong with options. One difference between the two that hasn't been brought up here: the KA is a couple of inches deeper than the Bosch, which for us seem to make for more loading options. I know it made a big difference with loading our particular dinner plates. I'd encourage the OP to take some plates to the appliance store and try them out. My only reservation about the Bosch at this point is the stories that I've heard about the dishwasher smell problems. http://anapanic.com/images/bosch-she58c05uc-manual.pdf

We do have an air gap installed now, though, so that may or may not prevent us from getting that problem. I noticed the vent on some of the nicer models is on top, which means it vents under the countertop. Does anyone have problems with this vent. Does is cause moisture to migrate to cabinets, or ruin anything. Just wondering! I'm new to this forum. Still deciding what to buy for the remodel. It's maddening. I'm in the market for a new dishwasher that doesn't vent out the top. Also, this quietseries isn't very quiet! We’re having technical issues, but we’ll be back in a flash. Done. This helps support the site. Thank You for your support! On this page, I have the instructions and the parts you need to identify and fix the problem.Removed the outer door panel (8 screws). This gives you working room to get at the water valve. Disconnected the water feed line from the water valve. Removed 2 screws from the water valve mounting bracket. Disconnected the wiring plug from the valve. Used a long-nosed Vise-grip to open hose clamp and a hair dryer to soften the hose and facilitate removal. If the manufacturer had made this hose even an inch longer it would have shortened the job by half. Connected hose to new valve (a drop of vegetable oil on the valve’s nipple will help get the hose all the way on without getting stuck half on and half off. The electrical plug was plugged into the valve prior to the hose installation. Install.mounting screws to secure valve. Salvage the brass elbow from the old valve, clean it up and reuse in the new valve. Some instructions specify using Teflon tape on the elbow. Mine leaked so I removed the elbow and reinstalled it using pipe dope. Also, the elbow is easier to remove before the old valve is unmounted. Turn on water and power and check for leaks and function. Reinstall door panel and kick panel. Assuming you read this over before starting the repair, turn off the water and power(unplug) before beginning. Great service and speedy delivery!! I was able to access the valve by removing the kick-plate at the bottom, and not take the entire door apart. Replacing the valve was easy enough, but the hose clamp holding the plastic fill-tube to the dishwasher tank was secured with a spring clamp, which was installed over nine years ago. I had to cut and destroy the clamp in order to get it off. Re-attached the tube with a small screw-type clamp from the hardware store. Well worth the effort, and the dishwasher is now just perfect. https://www.digitalsofts.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626fa3ebf3b74---bose-acoustimass-9-speaker-system-service-manual.pdf

It could be something simple, especially if you just installed it. Make sure the power cord is connected properly and a circuit breaker did not trip. After that, if its water line was not flushed before installation, it might have air bubbles inside that keeps the water from flowing through the hose with the right amount of pressure. Disconnect the water supply line from the dishwasher and flush 2 gallons of water through it before reinstalling the hose. If that fails, troubleshoot your Bosch dishwasher filling problem by process of elimination. Cycle Interruption A Bosch dishwasher dues not fill with water if the previous cycle was interrupted. If it was turned off for any reason and mistakenly left off, the dishwasher cannot fill with water, even though the unit comes on. Look for a kink in the water supply line. If you find one, shut off the water valve, and remove the hose and kinks. Reattach the water supply hose and turn on the valve. Hose Filter Most Bosch dishwashers contain a small filter inside the hose end to prevent sediment from your water supply getting inside the dishwasher. With the water supply hose disconnected, remove the filter from inside the hose, clean it thoroughly to remove any iron buildup or sediment, and replace. Reinstall the hose line and reopen the water supply valve. Water Pressure Verify you have enough water pressure to run the dishwasher. Grab a 1 gallon container and turn the faucet on to fill it. If you have enough water pressure to run the dishwasher, the container should fill up within 30 seconds. If it takes longer to fill a gallon container, you might not have enough pressure in your water delivery system to effectively use the dishwasher. Pooling Water The dishwasher does not fill for a new cycle when it has not drained from the last. If you open your dishwasher to find a pool of water inside, locate the large-object trap in the center bottom of the dishwasher. Remove the bottom tray to access the large-object trap. Turn the top of the large-object trap counterclockwise one-quarter turn and lift it out. Thoroughly clean its mesh filter. Remove any large objects such as toothpicks, bones, broken glass or food debris from the filter area. Clean the large mesh screen that surrounds the large-object trap before reinstalling everything in reverse of removal. Close the door to see if the dishwasher drains. If it does, you are free to start the next cycle. Water Inlet Valve Inside the bottom front of the dishwasher behind the kick panel, there is a water inlet valve that operates via electricity. Remove the Bosch power cord from the outlet or shut off power to the unit at the circuit breaker. Remove the kick panel by unscrewing the two screws on either side. Detach the screws that hold the front door panel in place from inside the dishwasher; pull the door panel down and set it aside. Close the door to access the water inlet valve. The water inlet valve has two wires that connect it to the circuitry of the unit. Check to ensure they are firmly attached. Also examine the valve for damage or leaks. If it is damaged, buy the part using the right model number for your dishwasher and replace it; otherwise, contact an appliance repair technician to do it for you. The next two digits are the production month. How to Find the Production Date of a Bosch Dishwasher Knowing the production date of your Bosch dishwasher may come in handy in the event of a recall or if filing an insurance claim. While Bosch doesn't print the code in a date format on their dishwashers, it's still possible to deduce the month and year a dishwasher was made based on its serial number. Locating the Serial Number The serial number is printed on every Bosch dishwasher on its door. To locate the serial number, open the door, and then look for a series of printed numbers and letters along the top inside edge. On some Bosch dishwashers, this information is printed on one of the sides of the door instead, typically on the right side. On some models, these four digits are listed on their own, followed by a space and then five more digits. The five-digit portion of the code has no bearing on the production date. Add 20 to the first two digits to determine the production year. If the final total equals more than 100, ignore the first digit. Bosch will ask for this information in the event of a recall. To determine whether your dishwasher has been recalled, visit the Bosch safety notices website, then click through any of the dishwasher links that may pertain to your dishwasher. The resulting page requests the serial number and model number. Write Down the Information In some cases, the metal or paper tag listing the model and serial number of the dishwasher can come off, fade or otherwise become illegible over time. To prevent difficulties in reading the information over time, write down the full model number and serial number on the dishwasher's owner's manual. This way, the information will always be available. Store the Bosch manual along with other kitchen appliance paperwork in an easy-to-find location, such as a kitchen drawer. Keep information on any repairs performed along with the paperwork for future reference. That's a good idea..See More debrak2008 6 years ago Our cycle gets longer when the rinse aid runs low. However, it kind of confuses things even more. It does seem to suggest the display reads in total minutes (not hours:minutes). Normal wash seems low, while Auto is higher than what the manual says is maximum. Seems like the manual is wrong, or the electronics are acting funny. Ouch, that is ugly! It looks like the dishwasher was built starting with the sensor, and everything else was installed around it. What were they thinking! And I hope it is not the electronics. That is what killed our last dishwasher. There is no harm in not replacing your sensor. Your dishwasher will still clean fine it just defaults to full time for each cycle instead of shortening them. Normal wash seems low, while Auto is higher than what the manual says is maximum. I don't know if the Normal cycle senses soil in the water. I figure the longer time for Auto allows time for the internal water heater to engage and heat the water beyond our home hot water heater's setting. When ours runs out, the DW adds approx. 20 or 30 minutes to the Auto cycle. They all suggest to remove the left side panel and pull the sensor out. Will try to attach a screen shot from my phone. Only reason I can figure for that is for the final rinse water to heat more to compensate for drying purposes. Easy to pull the sensor out, but you have pretty much tear the whole dishwasher apart to get to that point though. It pretty much always displays 100-105 minutes. I presume that is the time the last cycle ran, and it is estimating the next cycle will take the same, but I'm just guessing that. After three acid washes it has come down to 129. Perhaps I will give it a few more loads in normal and then try another acid wash.
